Our Internships

Early Learning Essentials is looking for interns who are innovative, self-starters, outgoing, great with people, dependable, and sensitive to the needs of families and children. 

Internships are unpaid and
hours vary depending on the internship. Interns may be expected to travel within Utah Valley. 

Spanish speaking and knowledge of Hispanic cultures is highly desirable for internship positions but not required.

Education Internship

Responsibilities:

● Assist teachers with current projects within the education program 

● Help in the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) resource room where the children participate in fun hands-on learning 

● Coordinate with the Education Staff in delivering educational services to your assigned area

● Be willing to work on other duties as assigned such as: clerical or operational functions 

● Assist with classroom activities such as being a classroom reader, helping with classroom events and activities, assisting with bilingual children 

● Assist with field trips and classroom events 

Come help in the preschool classrooms! We have several different locations you can intern at. Hours are variable, very workable, and flexible. Family Advocate Internship

Responsibilities:

● Schedule appointments with parents for meetings with Family Advocates

● Attend/assist with home visits, review case notes ahead of appointments, find helpful resources and referrals to take to the family 

● Experience case management Documentation by taking notes during meetings with parents and transcribing them into C+, our data system 

● If you speak another language, interpret at parent meetings, home visits and other meetings and help to translate documents into other languages 

● Participate in the planning of Parent Committee Meetings, Family and DUDE activities, and assist with: translation, child care, set up and clean up

● Bring new and innovative ideas of how to best help families and children 

● Help in additional areas if needed 

Community Involvement Internship


Want to help out in your local community while earning credits towards your degree and gaining valuable hands-on experience? Then our community involvement internship is for you! We’re looking for people with a knack for finding helpful resources, and are great at organizing events and being engaged in their community! Hours vary as we have many differing available opportunities. Applications for this position are open now!

● Research, uncover, and network with new community resources that can provide crucial services to our families. 

● Network with, and invite other programs who serve a similar population to present information about their services to our Family Advocates at Community Partner Trainings, and Parent Meetings. 

● Participate and represent at community committee meetings alongside the Family and Community Services Coordinator. 

● Help run, plan, and facilitate events like classes, innovative meetings, and other opportunities between parents and networked resource providers.

● Represent our organization at community events where we can recruit families and attend other events and meetings representing the organization. 

● Other relevant engaging projects as assigned by the Family and Community Services Coordinator

Parent Engagement Internship

Help parents gain a better understanding of the importance and impact of engaging with their children. Parent engagement is an important part of our program. We’re looking for creative minds with good ideas on encouraging involvement and who understand how important this concept is. Interns are welcome to work anywhere from 4 to 10 hours per week. ● Help plan and facilitate family and male engagement events

● Explore ways to encourage parent participation at ELE and community events, which includes: Creating flyers and advertisements, communicating with parents, and building relationships with parent leaders

● Offer support in expanding our male engagement program by planning and facilitating events and classes, brainstorming new ways of engaging fathers in their children’s lives, and supporting the various male engagement initiative programs which take place throughout the year.

● Participate in meetings with parent community leaders and staff to discuss new and innovative ways of improving parent engagement

● Support in the planning and facilitation of kindergarten transition events to help parents know how to engage with future school systems

● Other engagement projects as assigned by the Parent Engagement and Transitions Coordinator

Social Media Internship

Our Social Media Internship is a great way to get hands-on experience! Come be a part of our social media team! This internship can be completed from the comfort of your own home, hours are task oriented, so schedules are very flexible! Experience with Buffer, Facebook Business, Google Sheets and Canva preferred, but not required. Accepting applications now!

 

● Assist Community Outreach and Volunteer Coordinator with creating social media posts intended for platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and LinkedIn 

● Research on relevant social media trends to help grow our social media presence

● Analyze data on insights and trends to reach out to our target audience 

● Create 5 content pieces per week to be posted on social media platforms by the Community Outreach and Volunteer Coordinator

● Ability to meet once a week via Google Meet for a 1 hour check in and collaboration session with the social media team. 

● Ability to work collaboratively with other social media volunteers and Early Learning Essential staff members 

● Understanding and knowledge of the early childhood education field and resources available to families in Utah Valley

● Assist with various projects as assigned

Content Writing & Journalism Internship

Come gain valuable experience through our Content Writing & Journalism Internship! This internship can be completed remotely and hours are task oriented. Experience with WordPress and Yoast SEO Plugin is preferred but not required. Preference may be given to those who apply early. Applications for this position are currently closed.

Responsibilities:

● Assist Community Outreach & Volunteer Coordinator with creating articles and content for the organization website and community newsletters

● Research on relevant SEO trends to help grow web presence for Early Learning Essentials

● Analyze data on insights and trends to reach our target audience 

● Create 1 article per week to be posted on the website

● Ability to work collaboratively with Early Learning Essential staff members, interns, and associated individuals

● Understanding and knowledge of the early childhood education field and resources available to families in Utah Valley 

● Assist with other related tasks as needed and assigned

Mental Health Internship

Have an interest in the mental health field? Come learn and grow through the mental health internship position! Work with an inclusive team dedicated to helping this population. Gain quality experience and build connections! Applications for this position are currently open!

● Assist the Disabilities and Behavioral Specialist and Disabilities and Mental Health Director with students on Tier 3 status within the Disabilities and Mental Health program.

● Develop a basic understanding of the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis.

● Provide direct support in one-on-one and group classroom situations. 

● Follow behavior reduction and behavioral skill acquisition interventions. 

● Collect and record data on student progress.

● Effectively communicate with students and teaching staff regarding behavioral supports

● Model positive classroom management techniques to teaching staff

Videography Internship

Are you passionate about videography and seeking hands-on experience to enhance your skills? Early Learning Essentials is thrilled to invite aspiring videographers to join our team! The internship offers a unique chance for personal and professional growth in the field. Hours are variable between 10-15 hours per week, and a portion of the tasks may be completed remotely.   • Assist in creating high-quality video content including promotional videos, educational material, event coverage, video interviews, and social media content
  • Participate in weekly meetings with the Marketing Team and collaborate to develop creative concepts and storyboards for video projects
  • Provide support in post-production tasks including editing, color grading, sound mixing, and graphic integration
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest video production techniques and equipment, and offer recommendations 
  • Showcase exceptional attention to detail and maintain deadlines while delivering quality work and demonstrate excellent interpersonal communication skills
  • Show a genuine passion for the work and the way that it supports the diverse needs of families with young children
  • Generate video content tailored to social media platforms

Community Outreach and Volunteer Coordinator Assistant


Gain practical experience in communications, social media marketing, project planning, and administrative duties! This internship is perfect for anyone looking to enter a variety of business careers.   • Assist the Community Outreach and Volunteer Coordinator in creating engaging social media posts for Facebook, Instagram and Twitter
  • Analyze data, insights, trends and conduct research to effectively reach our target audience and increase our organization’s online presence
  • Create five content pieces per week for posting to social media platforms, in collaboration with the COVC
  • Look for possible grants and donations within the community. Assist in the application process. 
  • Attend a one-hour weekly meeting with the Marketing Team via Google Meet
  • Collaborate with other interns and Early Learning Essentials staff members
  • Assist COVC in other business/administrative duties including collaborative meetings, project planning, and event planning 

Events and Community Exposure Internship

This internship offers a unique chance to make a difference in the lives of families in need and provides valuable hands-on experience in the social sciences field! Hours are variable. Preference may be given to those who apply early. Applications are currently open!

Responsibilities:

  • Research and plan community events for family participation
  • Assist with in-house events, including decoration, food ordering, donation acquisition, and activity preparation
  • Collaborate on researching and developing a community exposure plan
  • Attend events to present our program, engage with young children, and distribute brand materials
  • Accompany presentations to community partners throughout Utah County with ERSEA
  • Prepare materials for fairs, parades, and other community events
  • Create various brand materials such as flyers, brochures, and videos

Nutrition Internship

Calling all innovative, self-starting students interested in nutrition and interaction with the community! You’ll be working closely with our Nutritional Service Coordinator to develop nutritious meal plans and promote healthy eating habits for families. Hours are variable between 5-7 hours per week and preference may be given to those who apply early. Applications are open now!

Responsibilities:

  • Assist Nutrition Coordinator with meal planning
  • Research meals that meet CACFP standards for our organization
  • Observe meal services and collect data on children’s preferences
  • Create 5 days’ worth of meals for the menu calendar
  • Prepare a presentation on a relevant nutrition topic for cook’s meetings
  • Research strategies to reduce waste from meal service
  • Develop parent presentations on nutrition topics
  • Write articles covering various nutrition subjects
  • Collaborate with the Nutritional Service Coordinator and other Early Learning Essentials staff members
  • Demonstrate understanding and knowledge of the early childhood nutrition field

Health Internship

The Health Internship offers a rewarding opportunity to assist in hands-on health specialist experience for preschool-age children. Make a meaningful impact on the well-being of many children and families! Hours are variable. Preference may be given to those who apply early. We are accepting applications now!

● Analyze data, insights, and trends to reach target goals with each child.
● Create short visual lessons for preschool age children pertaining to health outcomes
● Work collaboratively with other interns and staff members
● Gain understanding and knowledge about resources and their health components available to families in Utah Valley
● Communicate with families to help them reach health requirements
